Happy New Year Everyone!
We hope that 2014 is off to a great start for you all. We just wanted to share some recent highlights within the Imani House After School Program.
Last month, Imani House’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Club - which introduces our students to a variety of investigative sciences & hands on experiments, welcomed Dr. Folami Ideraabdullah, a genetic scientist from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Dr. Ideraabdullah answered questions from the students about her daily activities as a scientist and also provided an exciting excersisefor the children to participate in. With a few simple items, Dr. Ideraabdullah lead the students through the different steps of scientific method with an experiment that extracted DNA from peas.
The students were awed by the experiment’s success and Imani House is grateful to have exposed the children to activity like this.
We look forward to sharing more of our successes with you soon!
