ACHIEVEMENTS FOR THE PERIOD UNDER REVIEW:

2.1  Boys and Girls Reading Clubs Established in Two Schools in Liberia

During the review period, Learning Squared Liberia effectively initiated Boys and Girls Reading Clubs at Agape International School and Ann Sandell Independent School in Margibi and Montserrado Counties, respectively. These programs aim to mitigate educational challenges underprivileged children face by promoting engagement in reading, active participation in classrooms, and advancing literacy skills among Liberian students. Specifically designed to nurture reading aptitude and enthusiasm for learning, these clubs serve as crucial educational support for students in poor areas. The initiatives were further supported by generous donations, including various literature and English reading comprehension books, and T-shirts intended to enhance program awareness.

The total cost allocated for these initiatives, covering the acquisition of books, production of T-shirts, and various awareness-raising activities associated with the Reading Clubs at both schools, is estimated at approximately USD 500.00. This budgetary estimate includes all expenses related to the procurement of educational materials and the promotional efforts to foster a supportive learning environment within the participating schools.

2.2  Learning Squared Liberia provides Scholarships to twenty Students in Liberia

Learning Squared allocated LRD 83,600.00 to support twenty students (11 girls and 9 boys) at the Deacon Weh Institute and the Minor Community Schools in Montserrado and Margibi Counties. This significant financial contribution will cover the full tuition fees for these underprivileged students, enabling them to continue their education without financial strain.

During the presentation of the check to the educational institutions, Alvin M. Freeman, the Country Manager of Learning Squared in Liberia, expressed his appreciation for the schools' commitment to delivering quality education in rural areas. He emphasized the importance of creating a conducive learning environment and urged parents to ensure their children attend school regularly.

Augustine Weh, the Principal of the Deacon Weh Institute, welcomed the Learning Squared Liberia team and expressed his gratitude for their support, which directly benefits the students. The students themselves voiced profound thanks, acknowledging the significant impact of the scholarship on alleviating their financial challenges and enabling them to focus on their studies.

The Support to Education program, under which this initiative falls, is dedicated to eliminating financial obstacles to education and enhancing literacy among students, mainly focusing on rural and underserved areas in Liberia. Despite facing hurdles like the high demand for scholarships and low school attendance rates in rural settings, the program is showing potential in promoting academic achievement and advancing gender equality by supporting the educational needs of students in these communities.

2.3  Recommendation and Conclusion

We extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to our supporters, donors, GlobalGiving, the local communities, and schools for their unwavering commitment to the successful implementation of our project. Learning Squared Liberia is deeply committed to serving all children in Liberia, focusing on supporting underprivileged children in rural areas. Your support plays a vital role in enabling us to reach out and make a significant impact on the lives of these children, ensuring they have access to quality education and the opportunity to build a brighter future. We are grateful for your partnership and look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts to enhance educational opportunities for Liberian children.
