INTRODUCTION:
This report provides an overview of recent activities implemented under the project, covering the period from December 2024 to March 2025. Activities were conducted in Montserrado to support children's access to education and foster literacy and reading habits among young children in Liberia.

2.0 PLANNED ACTIVITIES FOR THE PERIOD UNDER REVIEW:

2.1 Field Visits to Support Reading Clubs
The program's support for Reading Clubs aimed to empower students by fostering literacy and a love for reading, especially among girls in rural communities. Students participated in two interactive sessions designed to provide more information about creating interest in reading and comprehension. These sessions sparked curiosity among students, particularly those with limited exposure to reading clubs. Two field visitations were organized at the Ann Sandell Elementary School in Montserrado County.

The Reading Clubs, specifically targeting girls, provided a supportive environment to develop literacy skills and instill a love for reading. Activities included:

  • Group Discussions: Students gathered to discuss book themes, share insights, and practice reading aloud to improve fluency.
  • Structured Activities: Exercises focused on building vocabulary and enhancing comprehension skills.
  • Storytelling Sessions: Students engaged in storytelling activities and shared books they enjoyed, promoting a collaborative and interactive learning environment.

Learning Squared is enthusiastic about the program's impact and actively seeks support and additional funding to expand this initiative to other parts of Liberia.

2.2 Recommendations and Conclusion
To build on the successes of the program, the following recommendations are proposed:

  • Expand Program Reach: Seek additional funding to scale up the program to other underserved communities.
  • Strengthen Community Involvement: Increase collaboration with local schools, parents, and stakeholders to sustain Reading Clubs.
  • Monitor and Evaluate Impact: Conduct regular assessments to measure student progress and refine program activities based on feedback.

In conclusion, the activities implemented under this project have positively contributed to improving literacy and encouraging reading and comprehension in the project areas. With continued support, this program can significantly enhance learning outcomes and educational opportunities for children in Liberia.
