INTRODUCTION:
This report covers recent activities implemented under the above-mentioned Project, covering the month under review December 2025 to March 2026. Activities were held in Margibi County in Liberia. This report reflects on the following:
2.0 PLANNED ACTIVITIES FOR THE PERIOD UNDER REVIEW:
2.1 Learning Squared Provides Financial Aid to Support Children’s Education
2.2 Field Assessment of Women Entrepreneurs – Learning Squared Microfinance Program
2.3 Learning Squared Hosts One-Day Microfinance Training Workshop at ROSODAN School System
2.4. Recommendation and Conclusion
ACHIEVEMENTS FOR THE PERIOD UNDER REVIEW:
2.1 Learning Squared Provides Financial Aid to Support Children’s Education
Learning Squared provided USD 500 in financial aid to support the education of children whose parents are participating in its microfinance program. The funds were equally distributed between ROSODAN School System (USD 250) and Pray for Life Training Academy (USD 250) to assist with tuition payments for 20 students. This support helps reduce the financial burden on families facing economic challenges and ensures that the children can remain in school and continue their education.
The initiative highlights the connection between education and economic empowerment, as Learning Squared’s microfinance program equips parents, especially women, with financial services, business training, and income-generating opportunities. During the distribution, all 20 parents were present, demonstrating a strong commitment to their children’s education.
School administrators, parents, and students expressed gratitude for the assistance, noting that the support came at a critical time and helped restore hope for many families. The initiative reflects Learning Squared’s commitment to strengthening education and supporting family economic stability, contributing to long-term community development.
2.2 Field Assessment of Women Entrepreneurs – Learning Squared Microfinance Program
Learning Squared conducted a field assessment in Margibi County as part of its Microfinance Program aimed at empowering women through financial support, skills development, and sustainable livelihood opportunities. The assessment took place at Prayer Life Leadership Training Academy School and ROSODAN School System, where twenty women (ten from each school) were evaluated through site visits, interviews, and standardized assessment forms that captured information on their socio-economic background, business experience, and financial needs. Findings showed that many participants were involved in small-scale businesses but faced challenges such as limited access to capital and weak financial management skills, despite showing strong motivation to improve their livelihoods. Based on the assessment, five women from each school were selected to participate immediately in the program, while the remaining participants were placed on a standby list. The process was coordinated by Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Samuelta, ensuring accurate data collection and transparent beneficiary selection. The assessment provided valuable information that will guide training, microfinance disbursement, and ongoing monitoring of the program’s impact.
Learning Squared Hosts One-Day Microfinance Training Workshop at ROSODAN School System
Learning Squared successfully conducted a one-day microfinance training workshop at the ROSODAN School System auditorium for over 20 women participants from ROSODAN School System and Pray for Life Leadership Training Academy School. The training provided practical knowledge on microfinance principles, including savings and loan systems, interest rates, budgeting, risk assessment, and strategies for supporting small businesses. The workshop was facilitated by Jennis and Samuelta through interactive presentations, exercises, and group discussions that encouraged participant engagement and experience sharing.
The event began with welcoming remarks from the Principal of ROSODAN School System, who expressed appreciation for Learning Squared’s continued support in empowering women and supporting children’s education. Participants reported positive learning experiences, noting that the training improved their understanding of managing loans and savings and increased their confidence in supporting community businesses and development initiatives. Overall, the workshop strengthened participants’ financial management capacity, promoted collaboration between the two schools, and reinforced Learning Squared’s commitment to empowering women and fostering sustainable community development.
2.4 Recommendation
Based on the activities carried out during the reporting period, the following recommendations are proposed to strengthen the impact and sustainability of the program: Learning Squared will consider expanding the microfinance program to include additional women. With additional support, we will reach other women who were placed on the standby list. Increasing access to financial services will enable more women to start or grow their small businesses and improve household income. Given the strong connection between economic empowerment and education, Learning Squared should continue supporting children’s education where possible and explore partnerships to expand educational assistance programs.
Conclusion
The activities implemented between November 2025 and March 2026 demonstrate Learning Squared’s strong commitment to empowering women and strengthening community development in Margibi County. Through financial aid for children’s education, the assessment of women entrepreneurs, and the microfinance training workshop, the program successfully addressed both economic and educational needs within participating communities. Overall, the program has laid a solid foundation for sustainable economic empowerment and social development.
