Protecting Communities Along Cross-Border Routes
Dear friend,
The movement of people between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo remains an important consideration in Ebola prevention efforts. Cross-border trade, family connections, and transportation networks are vital to local livelihoods, but they also require enhanced disease surveillance and community awareness.
Thanks to your support, prevention activities are continuing in communities located along major travel and trade corridors. Handwashing stations remain available at key gathering points, while local volunteers provide information about symptom recognition and prevention practices.
Our teams are also supporting efforts that encourage prompt reporting of suspected cases and cooperation with health authorities. Early reporting is one of the most effective tools for preventing wider transmission and ensuring that affected individuals receive timely care.
Community leaders have played a critical role in reinforcing prevention messages and helping residents understand the importance of public health measures. Their involvement has strengthened trust and increased participation in local response activities.
As neighboring countries work together to manage the outbreak, your support is helping communities remain informed, prepared, and protected. These proactive measures are reducing risk and helping prevent the spread of Ebola across vulnerable areas.
Thank you for making this lifesaving work possible.
