Strengthening Border Health Checkpoints
Border health checkpoints play a vital role in detecting and preventing the spread of Ebola between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Because of your support, these checkpoints are being strengthened to improve screening, awareness, and response coordination.
Health workers and volunteers stationed at these points are engaging travelers with key information about Ebola symptoms and prevention practices. They are also encouraging individuals to report any signs of illness early and to seek care promptly.
As a result, travelers are becoming more aware of their role in preventing transmission. Many are adopting precautionary behaviors such as regular handwashing and avoiding close contact when feeling unwell.
Strengthened checkpoints are also improving coordination between communities and health systems, ensuring that suspected cases are identified and referred quickly.
Your support is helping transform border crossings into active lines of defense—reducing the risk of cross-border transmission while maintaining essential movement and trade.
This intervention is critical in protecting both countries and ensuring a coordinated regional response to Ebola.
