Expanding Safe Isolation Units in Border Districts
Safe and timely isolation of suspected Ebola cases is critical to preventing community transmission. In high-risk border districts between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, limited isolation capacity can delay response efforts. Because of your support, safe isolation units are being expanded and strengthened in key border areas.
These units are designed to provide a secure space where individuals with suspected symptoms can be cared for while awaiting confirmation and further treatment. Health teams are working closely with communities to ensure that individuals understand the purpose of isolation and feel supported rather than fearful.
As a result, more suspected cases are being isolated quickly, reducing the risk of household and community spread. Communities are also becoming more accepting of isolation measures as they see their role in protecting public health.
Improved isolation capacity allows health systems to respond more effectively without overwhelming existing facilities. It also ensures that patients receive timely care in a controlled environment.
Your support is helping create safer spaces for both patients and communities—playing a crucial role in breaking chains of transmission and strengthening outbreak control efforts.
