Training Safe and Dignified Burial Response Teams Across Uganda–DRC
Safe and dignified burial practices are one of the most critical components of Ebola response, as traditional burial rituals can pose significant transmission risks. Because of your support, specialized burial response teams are being trained across Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
These teams are equipped with knowledge and practical skills to handle burials safely while respecting cultural and religious practices. Training emphasizes infection prevention, community engagement, and sensitivity to grieving families.
As a result, communities are increasingly accepting the involvement of trained teams, recognizing the importance of safe practices. This is helping reduce resistance and ensuring that burials are conducted in a way that protects both families and the wider community.
The presence of trained teams also provides reassurance, as families know that their loved ones will be treated with dignity and respect.
Your support is helping address one of the most sensitive and high-risk aspects of Ebola response—saving lives while honoring cultural traditions.
This intervention is essential in preventing transmission and building trust within communities.
