Supporting Reintegration of Ebola Survivors into Communities
Ebola survivors often face stigma and social isolation even after recovery, which can hinder both their well-being and broader community recovery. Because of your support, efforts are being made to support the safe and respectful reintegration of survivors into their communities across Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Awareness campaigns are helping communities understand that survivors who have been medically cleared no longer pose a risk of transmission. Messaging also emphasizes compassion, inclusion, and support for those who have recovered.
As a result, stigma is gradually decreasing, and survivors are being welcomed back into their communities with greater acceptance. This not only improves their emotional well-being but also encourages others to seek care early, knowing they will not face rejection.
Reintegration efforts are critical in restoring social cohesion and rebuilding trust within communities affected by Ebola.
