Improving Infection Prevention in Small and Rural Clinics
Small and rural clinics often serve as the first point of contact for patients in border communities, yet they may face limitations in resources and preparedness. Because of your support, infection prevention efforts in these facilities are being strengthened to reduce the risk of Ebola transmission.
Health workers are being supported with training on safe practices, including hygiene, patient handling, and early recognition of Ebola symptoms. Clinics are also being guided on how to implement basic infection prevention measures within their daily operations.
As a result, these facilities are becoming safer for both patients and healthcare providers. The risk of healthcare-associated transmission is decreasing, and clinics are better equipped to identify and refer suspected cases promptly.
Strengthening small clinics is particularly important in remote areas where access to larger facilities may be limited.
Your support is helping ensure that even the most basic health facilities can contribute effectively to Ebola prevention and response.
By improving infection prevention at this level, you are reinforcing a critical layer of defense within the healthcare system.
