Expanding Community-Led Border Surveillance Networks
Community-led surveillance is essential in border regions where formal monitoring systems may not reach every location. Because of your support, community-led surveillance networks are being expanded across Uganda–DRC border areas to strengthen early detection and reporting.
Local volunteers, leaders, and community members are being engaged to observe and report any signs of illness or unusual health events. They are also helping spread awareness about Ebola symptoms and prevention practices.
As a result, potential cases are being identified more quickly, allowing response teams to act before the virus can spread further. Communities are becoming more vigilant and proactive in protecting their health.
These networks also foster a sense of ownership and responsibility, ensuring that prevention efforts are sustained at the grassroots level.
