Scaling Household Disinfection Campaigns in Border Communities
Households remain one of the most critical points of Ebola transmission, particularly when a family member falls ill. Because of your support, targeted household disinfection campaigns are being expanded across border communities in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo to reduce this risk.
Community volunteers are engaging directly with families to promote safe cleaning practices, including disinfecting frequently touched surfaces such as door handles, utensils, and shared spaces. Households are also being guided on how to safely manage environments when a member shows symptoms, including minimizing contact and maintaining hygiene.
As a result, families are becoming more proactive in maintaining clean and safe living spaces. Awareness of how Ebola spreads within the home is increasing, and risky practices are being reduced.
These campaigns are especially important in densely populated areas where close contact is unavoidable. By reinforcing simple but effective disinfection practices, communities are strengthening their first line of defense against the virus.
Your support is helping transform households into safer environments—protecting families and preventing the spread of Ebola at its most immediate level.
This intervention is essential in breaking transmission chains and supporting community-wide health resilience.
