Supporting Community Food Distribution During Ebola Response
During Ebola outbreaks, movement restrictions and quarantine measures can disrupt access to food, placing vulnerable families at risk. Because of your support, community food distribution systems are being strengthened across Uganda–DRC border regions to ensure that affected households continue to meet their basic needs.
Local coordination efforts are ensuring that food reaches families under quarantine or in high-risk areas without requiring them to leave their homes. This support reduces the need for movement, which is critical in limiting the spread of the virus.
As a result, families are better able to comply with public health measures, including isolation and reduced contact. Communities are also experiencing less stress and uncertainty, as access to essential supplies is maintained.
This intervention not only supports physical health but also reinforces trust in response efforts, as communities see that their well-being is being prioritized.
Your support is helping ensure that no one is forced to choose between safety and survival.
By sustaining food access during the outbreak, you are strengthening both containment efforts and community resilience.
