Engaging Women Traders’ Associations in Cross-Border Prevention
Women traders’ associations play a significant role in cross-border trade and community networks across Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Because of your support, these groups are being actively engaged in Ebola prevention efforts.
Members of these associations are receiving targeted awareness on Ebola symptoms, hygiene practices, and safe trading behaviors. They are also encouraged to share this information within their networks and communities.
As a result, women traders are becoming influential advocates for health and safety. Their interactions with customers and fellow traders provide valuable opportunities to spread prevention messages.
These associations also offer a supportive network, helping members navigate challenges during the outbreak, including access to information and resources.
Your support is leveraging existing social and economic structures to amplify the reach of prevention efforts.
By engaging women traders, you are strengthening community-level awareness and ensuring that prevention messages travel across borders alongside trade.
This approach is both practical and impactful, contributing to a more inclusive and effective Ebola response.
