Promoting Safe Practices in Cross-Border Livestock Trade
Livestock trade is a key livelihood activity in many border regions between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Markets and trading routes often involve large gatherings and close interactions, which can increase the risk of disease transmission. Because of your support, targeted efforts are promoting safe practices within livestock trading communities.
Traders and handlers are being engaged with awareness on hygiene, safe handling practices, and the importance of monitoring personal health. Emphasis is placed on minimizing unnecessary contact and maintaining cleanliness in trading environments.
As a result, livestock markets are becoming more organized and safer for participants. Traders are adopting preventive behaviors and sharing knowledge within their networks, extending the reach of awareness efforts.
This intervention is critical in maintaining economic activities while reducing public health risks.
Your support is helping protect livelihoods while strengthening disease prevention—ensuring that essential trade can continue safely.
By focusing on livestock trade, you are addressing a key sector that connects multiple communities and plays a significant role in cross-border interaction.
