Expanding Community Handwashing Infrastructure in High-Risk Zones
Hand hygiene remains one of the most effective tools in preventing Ebola transmission. Because of your support, efforts are being expanded to install and maintain handwashing infrastructure across high-risk zones in Uganda–DRC border communities.
Handwashing stations are being strategically placed in markets, schools, transport hubs, health facilities, and community gathering points. Community members are also being engaged to ensure proper use and maintenance of these facilities.
As a result, access to handwashing is improving significantly, making it easier for individuals to practice good hygiene consistently. Increased availability is leading to higher usage rates, reinforcing positive habits within communities.
This intervention is particularly impactful in areas with high population movement, where frequent contact increases the risk of transmission.
Your support is helping transform hygiene from a challenge into an accessible daily practice.
By expanding handwashing infrastructure, you are strengthening one of the simplest yet most powerful defenses against Ebola- protecting communities and reducing the spread of infection.
