Enhancing Hygiene Messaging Through Community Champions
Community champions—respected individuals who influence behavior—are playing an increasingly important role in promoting Ebola prevention. Because of your support, these champions are being engaged across Uganda–DRC border communities to strengthen hygiene messaging.
These individuals include teachers, traders, youth leaders, and other influential figures who are trained to share accurate information about Ebola prevention practices. They promote consistent handwashing, safe interactions, and early reporting of symptoms.
As a result, hygiene messages are reaching deeper into communities and are being reinforced through trusted voices. People are more likely to adopt behaviors when they see them modeled by individuals they respect.
This approach also ensures that prevention messaging is sustained over time, as community champions continue to engage others in their daily interactions.
Your support is helping turn community influence into a powerful tool for public health.
By empowering champions, you are amplifying the reach and impact of Ebola prevention efforts—ensuring that key messages are heard, trusted, and practiced.
