Strengthening Safe Practices in Community Savings and Loan Meetings
Community savings and loan groups are essential support systems in many border areas of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. These groups meet regularly, creating opportunities for both economic empowerment and social interaction. Because of your support, safe practices are being reinforced within these gatherings to reduce Ebola transmission risks.
Group members are being encouraged to adopt hygiene measures such as handwashing before and after meetings, maintaining clean environments, and staying alert to symptoms. Leaders are also integrating Ebola awareness discussions into regular meetings.
As a result, these gatherings are becoming safer spaces where prevention practices are consistently reinforced. Members are not only protecting themselves but also sharing knowledge within their households and communities.
This approach leverages existing structures to expand the reach of prevention efforts without disrupting essential social and economic activities.
