Engaging Small Business Owners in Ebola Prevention Efforts
Small businesses are central to daily economic life in Uganda–DRC border communities, with shopkeepers, vendors, and service providers interacting with large numbers of people every day. Because of your support, targeted Ebola prevention efforts are being integrated into small business networks.
Business owners are being engaged with practical guidance on hygiene practices, customer interaction safety, and symptom awareness. They are encouraged to promote handwashing, maintain clean environments, and share prevention messages with customers.
As a result, small businesses are becoming important channels for spreading health awareness. Many business owners are adopting preventive behaviors and encouraging their customers to do the same, creating safer commercial environments.
This approach ensures that prevention messages reach a wide audience through everyday transactions and interactions.
Your support is helping transform small businesses into active partners in public health.
By engaging the private sector at community level, you are strengthening prevention efforts while supporting continued economic activity in a safe and responsible manner.
