Dear Donor,
As Ebola response activities continue across Uganda and neighboring communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo, attention is increasingly focused on ensuring that communities emerge stronger and better prepared for future health emergencies. Thanks to your generous support, Development Alert is helping transform emergency response efforts into long-term partnerships that strengthen resilience throughout border districts.
Community leaders, healthcare workers, Village Health Teams, women's associations, youth groups, and faith organizations continue working together to maintain surveillance, promote hygiene, support vulnerable households, and reinforce accurate public health information. These partnerships have grown stronger through months of collaboration, creating trusted networks capable of responding quickly whenever new health concerns arise.
Communities are increasingly taking ownership of prevention activities by maintaining public handwashing stations, organizing community awareness events, supporting neighbors affected by illness or quarantine, and encouraging prompt reporting of suspected symptoms. This local leadership is reducing dependence on external interventions while strengthening sustainable public health systems.
The lessons learned through the Ebola response are also improving coordination between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, reinforcing the understanding that regional cooperation is essential for preventing future outbreaks.
Your continued support is creating lasting change that extends far beyond the current emergency. By investing in community partnerships, you are helping build healthier, more resilient border communities that are better prepared to protect themselves from Ebola and other emerging public health threats for years to come.
