The continuing Ebola outbreak in the DRC reminds us that preparedness must be sustained until transmission is interrupted.
As of 23 September, ECDC reported 7,890 confirmed cases and 3,799 deaths, with cases continuing to be reported across 63 affected health zones in seven provinces.
While some locations have experienced changing or declining transmission patterns, the overall situation remains serious.
Development Alert continues promoting hygiene, early reporting, responsible health-seeking behavior, community awareness and cooperation with response teams.
We also recognize that communities need continued support to remain engaged after months of responding to a prolonged emergency.
Preparedness is not a single activity. It requires consistent communication, community participation and coordination with health authorities.
