Supporting Recovery for Flood-Affected Community

By Nagma Naaz | Operations and Partnerships Director

In the aftermath of devastating floods in Afghanistan, the support offered by GlobalGiving has been a lifeline for affected local communities. Thanks to the $7,500 received from GlobalGiving, we have been able to provide vital support to our Fellows, Alumni, and Schools, ensuring education continues despite the challenges.

With these funds, we have distributed food packages to Teach for Afghanistan Fellows, Staff and Alumni in Seasang village of Surkhrod district that was the worst affected by floods, many of whom have damaged homes and belongings. This assistance has allowed them to focus on supporting their students during this difficult time. Additionally, we have provided solar panels and mats to schools in Nangarhar, helping create functional learning spaces for children whose education has been disrupted. These resources are helping schools resume basic operations, offering a sense of stability and continuity to affected students.

However, the need remains immense, and we have not received any additional donations outside of GlobalGiving to sustain our efforts. Hundreds of children and their families are still struggling to rebuild their lives, with damaged schools, loss of livelihoods, and emotional trauma threatening their futures. We urgently appeal to you and others to support our cause so we can expand these efforts, rebuild schools, provide educational materials, and offer emotional support to those who need it most.

Your donation can make a significant difference, ensuring Afghan children have the opportunity to continue their education and dream of a brighter future. Together, we can rebuild hope and resilience in Afghanistan's flood-affected communities. Thank you for your support, and we humbly ask for your continued generosity to help us reach more children and families in need.
