As the devastating effects of recent flooding in Thailand settle in we have been working closely with our local partners on the ground to implement a plan for responding and helping those most affected.
Immediate needs so far involve supplying relief packages to evacuees of the floods being housed in temporary shelters on university campuses in Pathumthani, central Thailand.
The relief packages will cost approximately B1550/$50 each, including transportation to the shelter. Different packages will be available for men, women, children and babies which will contain basic essential items (underwear, blanket, food items, toiletries, sanitary products – children’s will also have crayons & a colouring book or a game)
Flood waters continue to rise, with another surge expected in the coming weeks. Even those not directly affected by the flooding have been stockpiling goods, fearing the floods may cut off their supply chain.
These packages will ensure that urgently needed supplies reach some of the people who have lost everything. Once floods do subside we will work with our partners to focus on some of the longer-term needs such as clean up operations and rebuilding.
