In the last three months Amelie provided, as usual, psychosocial assistance in its centres in Liberec, Olomouc, Prague and Rakovník.
In addition, support to oncological patients was provided on telephone or by e-mail on the Amelie Helpline throughout the Czech Republic. During the period, not only over 1500 contacts were made as part of these services with patients or their relatives in individual or group activities; Amelie also successfully organized and delivered the second version of Petra's Run - an event maintaining the memory of Amelie's long-time employee. Regular work consisted mainly of information services, counselling (including registered social services and related services), support in situations of change, alleviation of and prevention of stress, self-development and physical activation guided by the specifics of the cancer disease. For example, clients were offered art therapy, relaxation and yoga exercises or basic and specialist social counselling. Clients were meeting and sharing their experiences under Amelia's wing.
We believe that every contribution can help to bridge the difficult life situation that people and their loved ones quickly fall into after an outbreak of cancer. This period means a lot of stress and pain and it is important for patients to know that there are people who are ready to help them during this difficult time.
