Thank you for your generous donations to the Support Children`s homes project. Because of your investment in this project, we were to provide essential renovations to a local children`s home, as well as create meaningful opportunities for children to interact with volunteers.
Hands On Tokyo provides regular services to children`s homes all over Japan. In Tokyo, we are able to provide monthly English lessons, special Holiday events, and escort children to different locations. In addition to these projects, our corporate sponsors use their work experiences to teach children about money management and career skills, such as interviewing and introductions, that they can use when they leave the children`s home and venture out on their own after high school.
Hands On Tokyo has been fortunate to be able to work with children directly, and our volunteers have been patient and proactive mentors for the children. That being said, the physical upkeep of the homes themselves can often be overlooked.
In response to this need to maintain the children`s homes, volunteers from the United States came to Japan to do renovations to a children`s home in Tokyo.
Over the course of 4 days, the volunteers built two storage systems, as well as building a storage system to house emergency materials. As Japan is an earthquake prone country, this was a particularly important addition they made to the home.
Finally volunteers traveled to other children`s home to learn about the challenges residents face in life and as they transition into adulthood. During this time, there was ample opportunities for the volunteer to interact with the children. One particular activity was cookie decoration; the residents and the volunteers loved being able to be festive and creative during the holidays while getting to know one another.
All of our volunteers have had a tremendous impact on our children this year. By performing all these services for and with the children, we have been able to create healthy and positive interactions with adult figures for the children, and hopefully, instill confidence in them.
Thank you again for your generous support and we hope we can count on you again in the coming year. Happy Holidays!
Yours truly,
Hands On Tokyo
