We’ve had a lot going on with all of our Globalteer projects worldwide, but we’d like to give you an update about what has been going on at a few of our projects in Cambodia.
Our Sports Programme in Siem Reap is growing every month! It’s been quite a success at our educational project, Helping Hands Cambodia, and we are working on expanding it into neighbouring schools who can greatly benefit from sports education. Recently our staff met with directors at 7 local Cambodian schools. They discussed the introduction of sports into these schools, as well as the implementation of a child safety project into the school curriculum. We are continually looking to expand and share our successful programmes as much as we can, so this is another great start!
At our Helping Hands Cambodia school in Siem Reap, our students are excited to be receiving their new school uniforms soon! One stipulation of a child attending Helping Hands is that they also attend the local government school, meaning we must purchase new uniforms every year for our students, because uniforms are required. Unfortunately, in many areas in Cambodia, families are simply not able to afford these items, so a large number of children still miss out on receiving an education. To enable our students to do this, we provide the school uniform and stationery supplies that they need to enrol. We also supplement this education by enrolling them at Helping Hands for the other half of the day in which they are not in government school. This year we have received funding for the uniforms from a generous donor, and we are just waiting for them to arrive! The students always enjoy receiving a new, crisp uniform in order to start their new school year (which will begin in December), just like all kids around the world love getting new clothes and supplies before classes start! Be sure to follow Helping Hands on social media for updates!
We still continue to welcome volunteers weekly to each of our wonderful projects. For more information about any of our Cambodia-based projects, please visit www.globalteer.org.
