It’s November! Acknowledging the fraught moment and grateful to all of you.
We are excited to invite everyone to the first demonstration of the amazing new publishing resource created by the GISCollective for Green Mapmakers. The new Website Builder makes it easy to engage participation. It blends the map’s site suggestion surveys alongside the map, making it easier to expand involvement. In addition to locating great local resources on a map, now there’s a way to showcase when events are taking place, too.
Here’s an example made with the Builder - growdundee.blog - see how it enhances collaboration and capacity for resilience. Please reserve your spot at the demo and discussion on Tuesday November 12th at 11 ET - UTC-4 with the Platform Team at bit.ly/gmWBD
We are especially interested in seeing how the Website Builder benefits under-resourced groups. Special thanks to our GlobalGiving donors for helping us continually work for communities of all descriptions striving for a healthier, more just and green environment.
Our regular monthly Open Hour is Weds, November 6th at 11 ET, come with any questions and strategies for mapping, we are happy to discuss together - register at bit.ly/GMooh24
Come to a live event in NYC this Saturday too, starting at noon on Avenue B at East 8th Street. Let’s go on a Green Infrastructure walk! We’ll visit several sites where stormwater is being managed in different ways nearby. Thanks to Loisaida Open Street Community Coalition which is celebrating the local environment on Ave B all afternoon. All welcome - no need to RSVP, just show up! Here’s the map, you are welcome to walk it on your own.
News from some of the wonderful Mapmakers:
Love this 1,000 Rain Garden Mapping Challenge in Victoria BC! All being mapped on our platform using this Survey. We love the unique What’s the Rush map too!
Cuba’s Green Map project continues to do outstanding, joyful work as this latest newsletter from this dedicated team attests.
The Scape project represents another approach to using the versatile Platform - this time to track water quality! Read about it here, then come to Open Hour or the Builder session and consider using it yourself.
Our best wishes for positive outcomes and a brighter future in this season of gratitude.
