Energizing the Everyday

By Wendy Brawer | Director

Mapping by bike is a great Climate Week experience
Mapping by bike is a great Climate Week experience

Hello Green Map supporters!

By the time you receive this we will have just completed our fourth public event about Energy in a month, as Green Map took part in Climate Week, the Harvest Arts Fest and Open House NY.  More to come, of course! you can always find what’s coming up on our website and social.

Our engaged energy mapping work has been recognized by CitizensNYC and we have their support of this local project - we’ll reveal it in our next newsletter or come by:

On Saturday, Nov 8th from 1 to 4, we’re taking part in Susty Day on Avenue B - find us near 8th Street. See how the Energy Map is taking shape in this community and explore new ways to address energy concerns. There is so much each of us can do about power choices, efficiency and renewables!

Our November Open Hour is also on Energy. Join us Weds November 5th at 11 AM ET / 4 PM GMT for Open Hour. Energy Mapping is the topic this month, and it’s an opportunity to learn from other mapmakers, share experience, and get tips and tricks that strengthen local Green Map projects.  RSVP at bit.ly/GMooh25

Our thanks to Harbor School students, seen here on bikes exploring for their Governors Island Green Map!

We already ascribe to the Creative Commons, which is now partnering with UNESCO on Open Heritage. We wanted to share this with you as a global coalition is in formation and we’re learning more about the value of the joint statement at this fraught moment in history.

As the autumn leaves start to fall, it's a good time to talk to your electeds about the impacts and positive shifts that are happening right now. For instance, did you know US tax deductions of 30% for new solar are good through 2025? Get that contract you've been planning for in place! The website dsireusa.org has all the current incentives across the US. Check it out!
