Support Laboratories in Burkina Faso & Zimbabwe

Dear Donators,

We are glad to update on our cooperation with newly established Rise Center in Burkina Faso.

Our cooperation will be mainly focused on supporting laboratories in Burkina Faso by identifying two main aspects:

1. Operational focus will on establishing a laboratory for testing and certifying local products (e.g., shea butter, olive oils, and honey);

There is a huge need to find solutions for local problems faced by actors in the shea butter, olive oils, and honey sectors. These actors belong to three professional networks:

 - The Shea Butter Producers Network;

 - The Interprofessional Honey Association of Burkina Faso (IP-Miel/BF);

 - The Olive oils Network.

The quality factors of unrefined butter are: water content, free fatty acids, peroxide value and impurity level. Depending on their values, shea butter is classified into three categories. However, there is a main factor that can control and improve the quality of the shea butter and ensure a better quality, that is the level of vitamin E. There is also the issue of management of waste from shea butter production.

2. Operational focus on training of private labs in of applied science, for example local chemical production.

We want to offer more accesible consulting services to laboratories in laboratory management and local chemical production. Here are some specific examples:

 - Production of distilled water;

 - Production of Hydrogen Peroxide;

 - Production of Buffered Solution;

 - Management in Laboratory, Safety in Laboratory.

- Other types of applied Sciences such as Mining, water pollution treatment, smart sensors for agricultural monitoring, etc.
