The world feels uncertain right now, and I hope you are finding moments of stability and hope wherever you are. I want to start by thanking you for your support of Charmaghz and for standing with Afghan girls as we imagine a future full of opportunities for education and growth.

Your confidence in our work has meant so much to our team. Over the past months, as we have carefully shaped the next chapter of Charmaghz, your encouragement has inspired us to plan thoughtfully and act responsibly, ensuring we continue creating meaningful opportunities for Afghan girls despite the complex and restrictive environment.

With your support, we are excited to launch a new phase of programming. This work is informed by research, feedback from Afghan girls themselves, and our years of experience delivering education in challenging contexts. Every new initiative we pursue is made possible because you chose to stand with us.

This year, we will pilot three online programs: an online school for girls currently excluded from formal schooling; preparation for entrepreneurship and employment to foster economic independence; and English classes to build skills for further education and future careers. 

We are equally excited to expand Parkhan, our online book club program piloted last year. Parkhan, which combines the Persian words for “fly” and “read,” celebrates the freedom that learning brings. In 2026, we aim to engage roughly 400 Afghan girls across multiple cohorts, while also creating paid opportunities for Afghan women educators as facilitators.
