Monsoon Alert: Alkhidmat’s Rescue Training & Mock Drills Underway Amid Rising Flood Threats
River Kabul – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
As monsoon rains intensify across Pakistan, triggering rising water levels and posing serious flood risks in northern regions, Alkhidmat Foundation’s Disaster Management Program has launched a critical two-day rescue training and mock drill session along River Kabul in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
This initiative comes at a crucial time, with flash floods already affecting vulnerable communities in hilly and riverine areas. The training is designed to enhance the preparedness and rapid response capabilities of our rescue volunteers, disaster teams, and first responders.
Day 1 Activities Included:
-
Operation of rescue boats in high-flow river scenarios
-
Techniques for saving drowning individuals and safe evacuation methods
-
Search and retrieval simulations for people swept away in flood currents
-
Real-time navigation and emergency coordination exercises
Why This Matters:
-
Current monsoon rains are forecasted to intensify, with multiple rivers under threat of flooding, especially in KP, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Punjab.
-
Timely preparedness saves lives—and these trainings ensure that Alkhidmat’s rescue force is ready to respond wherever needed.
-
The training is not just practical—it’s life-saving, especially for isolated communities with limited emergency access.
