Towards a Library of Hope in DR Congo

Progress Report – August 2025

Project: Supporting a Library for Orphaned Children in DR Congo
Required Budget: $5,000 USD
Funds Raised So Far: $50 USD
Project Launch Date: November 2025

Introduction

In a country where access to education remains a major challenge for thousands of orphaned children, our project is a step toward changing lives. We aim to create a safe and enriching space—a library that combines classic literature and educational films to open up new worlds for children who need it most.

This space will give orphaned children in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) the opportunity to explore, learn, and grow intellectually and emotionally.

Project Objective

Our mission is simple yet essential: to give orphaned children the tools to develop their minds, stimulate creativity, and build confidence in their potential. Through literature and visual media, we want to:

  • Fill the educational gap these children face.
  • Offer a space that encourages curiosity and critical thinking.
  • Help children understand stories—both written and visual.
  • Plant the seeds of a better future for an entire generation.

Context

In the DRC, thousands of orphaned children grow up with no access to books or cultural experiences. Lacking even the most basic educational resources, their opportunities are limited from the start. This project addresses the urgent need for alternative learning environments—ones that are inclusive, inspiring, and adapted to their reality.

Project Phases

  • Current Phase (August 2025):
Identifying trainers and selecting the children who will benefit from the program.
  • Next Phase (November 2025):
Official project launch and beginning of educational activities.

Overall Budget

The total needed to bring this project to life is $5,000 USD. This amount will help us:

  • Set up the library space with essential materials.
  • Purchase books and educational films.
  • Train facilitators and educators.

Current Support and Outlook

Thanks to our collaboration with GlobalGiving, we've already begun fundraising and have collected $50 USD. This small but meaningful start shows us that people believe in this mission. With continued support and increased visibility, we are confident we will reach our goal.

A Call to Donors

We extend a heartfelt call to all those who believe in the power of education:
Every donation—no matter the amount—can change a child’s life.

Help us build a space where orphaned children can learn, dream, and grow. Your support will not only impact individual lives but help break the cycle of poverty and illiteracy in their communities.

Let’s join forces to make a lasting difference.

Our Gratitude

To all those who have already contributed: thank you.
Your generosity is laying the foundation for something truly transformative. With your continued support, we will bring this vision to life.

Together, let’s bring knowledge, hope, and opportunity to those who need it most.
