Library for Orphaned Children in DRC

By JOSUE AGIZO | COORDINATOR

1. Project Summary

The project “Support Orphaned Children's Library in DR Congo” aims to provide orphaned children with an accessible, inspiring, and supportive learning space. By establishing a library enriched with classic literature and educational audiovisual materials, this initiative seeks to spark curiosity, strengthen intellectual abilities, and nurture imagination.

In a context where access to educational resources remains limited, this project offers a practical and meaningful response to help guide these children toward a brighter future.

2. Context and Justification

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, many orphaned children grow up with limited access to education and modern learning tools. This reality hinders their personal development, restricts future opportunities, and deepens social inequalities.

The lack of appropriate educational infrastructure and accessible cultural resources represents a major barrier to their growth. This project addresses this urgent need by creating an environment that fosters learning, discovery, and creativity.

3. Project Objectives

General Objective:
To contribute to the education and intellectual development of orphaned children through the creation of an educational and cultural library.

Specific Objectives:

  • Provide access to diverse books and educational visual materials
  • Improve reading and comprehension skills
  • Introduce children to visual literacy and storytelling
  • Encourage creativity and critical thinking
  • Build self-confidence and personal development

4. Planned Activities

  • Establishment of the library
  • Procurement of books and audiovisual materials
  • Organization of reading sessions and educational film screenings
  • Training and support for facilitators
  • Identification of beneficiaries (ongoing)
  • Official project launch scheduled for November 2025

5. Beneficiaries

  • Orphaned children in vulnerable situations
  • Young girls benefiting from complementary vocational training
  • The local community through indirect project impact

6. Expected Impact

This project will have a lasting and transformative impact:

  • Improved educational outcomes for children
  • Development of essential life and learning skills
  • Gradual empowerment of young beneficiaries

  • Creation of an inspiring model for similar local initiatives

The impact of education and training will extend to families and the wider community, fostering long-term positive change.

7. Budget Summary

  • Total budget: $5,000
  • Funds raised so far: $51
  • Active partnership with GlobalGiving

The budget mainly covers educational resources, library setup, and training activities.

8. Project Status

Together, we can offer these children more than books: a chance to dream, to learn, and to build their future.

10. Acknowledgments

We extend our sincere gratitude to all donors who have already contributed to this project. Your generosity is a true source of hope and motivation.

We also thank GlobalGiving for their support and trust.
