Note: Currently, there are no active cases of COVID in Kumba and Tiko, and the classrooms you see are in the open and thoroughly ventilated.
Four staff of Reach Out assessed two community schools in Hope Alive Foundation Academy, Tiko and Mah Di’s Bilingual Nursery and Primary School, Kumba on the 18th September 202.
After the assessment, it was concluded that your donations will be used to secure the payment of two teachers in each institution for the next 6 months, who will receive a basic compensation package (minimum salary). These will in turn educate 96 boys and 67 girls aged 02 to 15, and the quality of their lessons will be evaluated periodically by our technical supervisors. We hope to raise more donations in this period so we can increase the number of teachers supported, and we estimate that both institutions could support four more teachers to educate 163 children if we can raise at least 1800 $ for next year’s budget. Currently, they are being supported by unpaid volunteers. If we raise 4,950$ we will be able to construct two classrooms for Hope Alive, which school is still under construction as you can see.
Juliet - I am called Juliet, a class six teacher at Hope Alive Foundation Academy. I have been working as a trained teacher since 2011 but my career as a teacher almost ended in 2018 when the Anglophone crisis became more violent and schools were shut down. I left Bamenda in the North West Region of Cameroon with my family to Tiko because of the rampant gunshots. While in this strange land, I diverted my career to farming to make ends meet. Later on, I came in contact with the school proprietor of Hope Alive Foundation Academy, who decided to recruit me to teach in the school. I cater for my family needs with the money I earn. Besides the pay, I am also able to pursue my passion as a teacher. It’s an honor to teach in such a prestigious school which seeks to help the vulnerable and less privileged children in the community get a brighter future through sound education. Lives are being transformed and the children are sure of a brighter future. I will forever remain grateful to God for this wonderful opportunity to serve. I am equally grateful to your donors for the constant support to enable us to have better working conditions.
Victorine - Victorine is my name, I am a class six teacher at Mah Di’s Bilingual Nursery and Primary School, Kumba. The school had 100% success both in the First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) and the Common Entrance examinations for the 2019/2020 academic year. I look forward to achieving more 100%’s as I put in my best while hoping for God’s blessings through donors in cash and or in-kind for the school and the children.
I thank Reach Out for its endless and relentless efforts to put smiles on the faces of vulnerable and underprivileged children, my colleagues and I are very happy with the decision to pay our fees and we promise to put in our best to ensure that the children are well taught. We will not disappoint you, this is a rare opportunity given to us by you. Thank you, donors.
