The Month of November went on smoothly in the two schools. There were no security incidents, and all activities went on hitch-free: 322 children received free and subsidized education in the community schools in Kumba (Mah Di's) and Tiko (Hope Alive).
Hope Alive continues building its permanent structure, and Mah Di’s has begun planning for an expansion to accommodate the growing number of pupils. Thank you for supporting this dream.
This November, the team at Mah Di’s Orphanage was saddened by a fire disaster that destroyed the property of one of their neighbours, Victorine. She is an internally displaced person and this incident has rendered her homeless. Mah Di’s and other community stakeholders collected donations to assist her materially and financially.
Today we want to bring you the story of Peter, one of the pupils at Hope Alive (Tiko) who is also internally displaced, very intelligent, hard-working, and the best pupil in his class. He suffers a situation of domestic abuse and he is neglected by his father who is an alcoholic. His school costs are paid by donors and well-wishers from the community. Back at home, peter’s family cannot afford three meals a day and sometimes there is nothing to eat. This has caused the child to be sick frequently as he is suffering from moderate malnutrition. None of this stopped him from being the best at his class, and he is a bright child.
In normal circumstances, he would not be in a school, but because of you and other donors like you, Peter receives free education in Hope Alive. ‘I am very grateful for this scholarship, without your support, I will not be in school today, I promise to study hard to make you all proud of me. Thank you’
Once more, thank you for making this happen.
