Project Report | Aug 5, 2025
Our clinic in Guatemala continues it's work

By Maria Melnikova | Fundraising coordinator

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all supporters of the "Support People's Right to a Healthy Life" project. Your generous contributions have made a tangible difference in the lives of many. In this report, we share recent updates from our clinic in Guatemala, highlighting our ongoing efforts, improvements, and the resilience of the community we serve.

Clinic Impact and Service Numbers: In the months of May, June, and July, our clinic has proudly served over 200 people each month. These services include medical consultations, distribution of free medicines, and health education, providing essential healthcare access to a population of approximately 25,000 residents in a remote area where no other medical facilities are available.

Facility Improvements and Equipment Upgrades: Thanks to the support of our donors and community collaboration, significant upgrades have been made to enhance the safety and quality of care at our clinic:

  • Street Lighting: Recent installation of new street lights, powered by solar panels, has increased safety around the clinic premises. The Alcaldía contributed 30% of the costs and handled procurement and installation, making this sustainable upgrade possible without additional electricity costs.
  • Medical Equipment: Our anniversary donations enabled us to acquire new otoscopes, stethoscopes, and oximeters, improving diagnostic capabilities.
  • Volunteer Quarters: The volunteer resting spaces received a new large refrigerator and closed storage cabinets, ensuring better living conditions for our dedicated volunteers.

Operational Challenges and Community Resilience: The rainy season, beginning in June, has brought traditional power and water outages. Despite these challenges, our volunteers remain resilient—taking advantage of dry spells to conduct health runs, and during outages, engaging with local children and playing educational games. The thunderstorms and outages have continued into July; however, the community and volunteers maintain high spirits, making the best of each situation with headlamps, games, and unwavering dedication.

Your continued support is vital to sustaining and expanding our efforts. Together, we are making a difference—bringing hope, health, and opportunity to the people of Guatemala. We thank you for being part of this impactful journey toward health equity.
