Informative Session on Women and Baby Care
Informative Session on Women and Baby Care

In the 6th year of Syria Crisis, there are close to 3 million refugees residing in Turkey with different needs. Families are trying to hold on to life with the bare minimum they have. However, they still thrive to live and continue on with their lives. As Support to Life, we are trying to address the ongoing and upcoming issues to create a normal ground for those who fled from an extraordinary situation.

Support to Life staff gave an informative session to refugee women at Madenboyu Village, Hatay about ‘Women Care’ prior, during and after the pregnancy. The session continued with important medical details and how to take care of a newborn baby. Baby care bags were distributed to soon to be mothers at the end the end of the session.

F.D. is a 31-year-old young mother from Idlip. She had to leave her home after it was demolished 5 years ago with her husband and her 3 children. She gave birth to her daughter and two sons back in Syria, now she is one month pregnant to her fourth child. Her youngest will be born in Turkey as they are unable to go back to Syria.

Her husband was injured during the conflict and still suffers from leg pain. He can only find day-to-day jobs and most of the time has to stay at home. She is unable to work since she has three to take care of. She is able to see doctor and receive medical care; however, it is hard for them to afford some of the items they need. Her eldest, an 8-year-old with a heartwarming smile, was very excited to see the baby care bag as she is excited to have a new sibling.

Having lost some of their family members, Syrian Refugees are very happy being together as a family. Five years after the conflict, with the given number of displaced people, the need for different types of aid and support raises additional to the ongoing ones. Given the economic challenges and low opportunity of labor, unfortunately they do not have the necessary care items for their families.

Emergency relief is always a necessity, and we need your support to reach out to newborn babies to keep them warm and comfortable.
