On a Sunday afternoon passed mid-October A. S. opened her eyes for the very first time as the fourth child of the family. The family’s story is fairly similar to the other Syrian Refugee families. Her mom along with her siblings, without a husband, fled to Turkey only a few months prior to her birth without passports or belongings.
The family was not a part of the ‘temporary protection’ program of the state and was not eligible for social services at the time we met them. However, they were in need of support and shelter. Our Case Management Officer Hatice Kaya, located in our Sanliurfa Office, along with our team helped the pregnant mother and her three children to find shelter until the identification process was completed.
After the most important problem was resolved the labor started, which is exactly when we found out that the mother was in worse shape than we though. She was immediately taken to the hospital and the painful delivery resulted with a c-section. Little A. S. was placed into an incubator, but was able to leave the hospital safe and sound with her mother in a few days. Your generous donations allowed us to give the very first gift to the newborn. Her mother does not need to worry of the caring items she needs for the baby girl. We would like to thank each and every one of you once more for supporting lives.
There are new lives coming to this world every day with the new hopes. According to UNHCR statistics, close to four hundred thousand out of all the registered refugees in Turkey is under 4-years-old. Many of these refugees were born in Turkey without protection or shelter. This is why your donation is very important for these refugees as it strengthens them to have your support.
