Beit Uri is home for a diverse community with physical and severe mental disabilities, complicated by advancing age and degenerative conditions. The village, a ‘home for life’, provides a curative surrounding offering a Ministry of Education-supported school, rehabilitation arts and crafts workshops for adults and a wide variety of afternoon therapeutic activities including horse-riding in a local stables and multiple outside sports and fitness sessions in the village.
Hydrotherapy in a nearby pool is particularly beneficial for the developmentally challenged population where water therapy helps improve stability and communication skills while building up body strength and as a result effects self- awareness and self-confidence.
For many of the adult residents once or twice a week sports activities is not sufficient. Frequent fitness-related activities have been recommended to deal with various health and weight issues - overweight is a genetic problem for many adult residents. A supervised, well-equipped fitness room is therefore open to groups on a daily basis.
All these activities are donor supported and with your help the entire Beit Uri community can stay healthy and fit.
Thank you for your care and support !.
