Support the rights of 125 children to education

The global pandemic left so many without loved ones, jobs, and even hope. However , after two years of a pandemic that slowed down air travel and donations, we are  keeping HOPE.    

Our hope comes in the form of witnessing the impact of our mission to ensure children receive a quality education.  This past academic year we have been able to retain 100 children in school through sponsorship, afterschool programs, and enrichment programs.   However we want to share one success story ( of the 100)     however you can read our newsletters on our website to read about the other 99 plus . 

We would like you to  meet Obed, who entered our program in kindergarten when he was 8 years old.  Like many children in Chorkor; a fishing community; he was not allowed to attend school as his family wanted him to pursue the family tradition of fishing.   After meeting with his father, it was agreed that Obed could attend school for a short period of time, as his fishing skills were not so good yet. 

Although he was 3 years behind most students his age to enter school- Obed was determined, and was able to advance a grade when he reached 3rd grade and then again in grade 4. 

He took advantage of all our programs and was never absent.  

This past month he graduated from the University with a degree in  History and Economics. Through his high school and university education--  he was committed to giving  BACK to BASICS through serving as an Intern; mentoring and teaching children.   

BASICS stayed committed to providing the basics human rights to education to OBED, and it paid off.   

As the new school year is approaching  ( January 2023)  we are  looking forward to reaching our goal - and we thank every donor who has contributed so far.
