After strong flood that hit various parts of the district, the river Luján SOS space issued a statement where it analyzes beyond the natural phenomenon. In this sense, there are structural problems that exacerbated the social consequences to the overflow of the cauce.Como takes place in other municipalities, the organization performs work of preservation of the River, mainly focused on its delicate state of the environment. In this case, aside from the torrential rains that preceded the flood, Río Luján SOS expresses that "the natural calamity has left exposed many problems that our district for years". On that tour, refers to the conditions of vulnerability of many neighbors, who in the absence of measures to facilitate access to a field worthy, they have located in the worst areas of the party, always being exposed before the first rising of the river. On the other hand, the statement highlighted "the lack of checks and surveys of private residential developments which have located in areas surrounding the River (in all matches of the basin) in recent years". In this regard, it is recalled that "the different environmental organizations in the basin have again denounced irregularities and has warned about the need to study the environmental impact of the countries and gated communities that are built in the lower of the Luján River". According to SOS Luján River "on many occasions, these residential developments have no qualms and alter the course of the river and its wetlands (creation of navigable Lakes, movements of Earth to reach levels that are suitable for the construction of housing to never be flooded, etc.) generating a"cap"that prevents the rapid drainage of areas flooded in the middle (in Parties of Mercedes" (, Luján y Pilar) of the route of the river ". For that reason, the Organization "it is essential that the Government take measures to help our poorest neighbors and to penalise property speculation which causes huge problems in our community".
