Mim's Story
His real name is Parvez. He belongs to a political family. He studied from Sirajganj Sadar till his secondary level. At that time, his family identified him as an identity boy. But being of the third gender, she was often excluded from various family rituals Once unable to adapt to the family and society, he left the family and sought refuge with a Hijra Guru-Ma in Dhaka. As a result, he naturally associates with other hijras and gets involved in begging, extortion, drugs and other vices. At one stage he is introduced to 'PATHWAY' and through 'Pathway counseling, he sets out to reform himself at one stage. As a result in 'PATHWAY' he is being developed as a driving instructor through computer and driving training. Besides, he has again joined the college to study at the higher secondary level.
Now, Mim wants to establish herself in such a way that others, especially third genders, can see her and be inspired to return to normal life.
PATHWAY is working to bring back many more members of the third gender to the mainstream of society. We have been working for a long time to change society's perception of transgender people. PATHWAY is creating an opportunity for these socially disadvantaged people to establish themselves in society as skilled and self-reliant manpower through technical training.
This technical training includes driving training, boutiques and beautician training. This ongoing program is active this year as well. Under this project, a total of 09 people got driving training, 10 sewing machines training, 02 boutiques and 01 got beautician training.
In addition to this, PATHWAY has distributed sewing machines to ten people of the third gender, cash assistance to two, and medical assistance to one.
