Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Internews has delivered comprehensive support to 536 regional and national media outlets, ensuring they can continue to provide life-saving information on missile attacks, humanitarian aid, and safe practices for work and school, even in areas under temporary occupation.
Our goal is not just to ensure the survival of the country’s media environment, but to help it thrive in the face of unimaginable hardship. This means pushing forward critical reforms, such as the newly adopted Law on Media and Law on Advertising, and strengthening Ukraine’s democracy and supporting its integration into the European Union.
We will continue to work to ensure that the voices of independent media are not silenced, and that citizens receive the vital information they need to survive — until the days in which a free media sector will be a cornerstone of the nation’s post-war recovery.
