This progress report was dictated by Manjhu Devi ( not her real name)
It is totally unedited and reflects her personal viewpoint ..
My name is Manju,
I don’t know my age exactly but I am about 35 years of age. I have seven children aged between about 4 years and 15 years.
Our village has some power now but the lights are dim because of low voltage and we get only a few hours per day. There is no proper doctor and the only school is the people first one which my children attend.
Our house is simple made of mud and with a straw roof but because of my income made with my machine we have managed to buy some tiles.
We have a few goats and a very little land and my husband works as a daily labourer and earns up to $6.00 a day. When he has work.
I got my machine for the sewing centre after I learnt all the skills and my machine has brought much needed income into our family, it is so important to me and my family
I want to take the chance to personally thank you for making our lives a little less hard and helping me and all my fast friends at the sewing centre.
May God bless you all,
Manjhu
