We welcome a new cohort of grantees!
In alignment with our commitment to advancing gender justice in Puerto Rico, the Fundación de Mujeres en Puerto Rico recently awarded $440,000 in grants to ten nonprofit organizations dedicated to reproductive, economic, gender, and racial justice. These grants not only provide financial support but also include educational resources and technical assistance to strengthen the capacity of grassroots and community-led organizations.
Through three strategic funding areas—reproductive justice, economic justice, and gender and racial justice—our grantees are addressing critical issues such as comprehensive sexual education, reproductive rights, economic equity, and anti-racism initiatives. This funding ensures that historically underfunded organizations can continue their transformative work in Puerto Rico, challenging systemic barriers and creating sustainable change for women, girls, and gender-expansive communities.
Investing in Feminist Leadership
At Fundación de Mujeres en Puerto Rico, we believe that investing in women, girls, and gender-expansive communities is key to driving meaningful social transformation. Since our inception, our grantmaking has been intentional and strategic, designed to provide long-term, unrestricted support to community-led organizations, many of which receive little to no funding from traditional philanthropic sources. We prioritized institutional capacity-building to strengthen resilience against socio-climatic disasters and systemic inequities. Our approach is rooted in trust and collaboration, ensuring that resources reach those who are directly connected to their communities.
Urgency of Funding: The Need for Immediate Action
The evolving political landscape poses significant risks to the sustainability of our efforts and the essential services provided by our partner organizations that support gender equity, social justice. Without urgent financial reinforcement, many of these organizations could face severe limitations or even closure, jeopardizing essential services for vulnerable populations.
We aim to raise funds to continue our mission and safeguard the progress made over the years. With these funds, we will:
Stand With Us
Women and girls in Puerto Rico are leading the fight for equity and justice, but they cannot do it alone. With your support, we can ensure that their voices remain strong, their organizations remain sustainable, and their communities continue to thrive.
By standing with us, you are investing in a Puerto Rico where women’s leadership is not only recognized but fully resourced and empowered. Together, we can build a more just and equitable future.
