Listening Deeper, Supporting Stronger
At Fundación de Mujeres en Puerto Rico, we believe the people closest to the problem are also closest to the solution. That's why we do more than fund—we listen, learn, and build with the grassroots feminist leaders driving change on the island.
This year, we carried out a transformative assessment process—we conducted a comprehensive assessment combining operational infrastructure questionnaires, field visits, and virtual dialogues to deeply understand the evolving realities of grassroots feminist organizations across Puerto Rico — to truly understand what our grantee partners are facing. What we heard was urgent: the federal funding crisis is pushing frontline feminist organizations to the edge. But we didn’t stop at listening—we acted.
We launched a dynamic capacity-building program shaped entirely by what our partners told us they needed. Workshops on strategic planning, messaging, and resilience-building are already underway. And most importantly, we’re ensuring the most vulnerable organizations are protected, resourced, and ready to keep going—because their survival is essential for Puerto Rico’s future.
We don’t just fund. We fuel feminist power.
Redistribution in Action: $605,000 in Community-Led Funding
In 2024, we reached a powerful milestone: $605,000 redistributed to feminist-led organizations—85% of it as unrestricted support. This isn't just a number—it’s a lifeline. It's what allows organizations to stay open, pivot quickly, and meet their communities’ needs on their own terms.
We also fortified our Reproductive Justice Fund, standing firmly with the organizations fighting for bodily autonomy in one of the most politically challenging climates in recent history.

Introducing Voces Isleñas: The Movement Speaks
This year, we also launched Voces Isleñas, our new blog platform where feminist resistance takes center stage. Here, you’ll find the voices of land defenders, reproductive justice warriors, LGBTQ+ advocates, and community leaders whose everyday work is reshaping Puerto Rico. These are not just stories—they are blueprints for a more just world.
