The tumor on Moonlight's forehead was removed
It's time for a new GlobalGiving Progress Report and that means it's time for more AKI-HaH Emergency Fund stories. We can never fit all our emergency fund cases into one Progress Report! From Janury through May 2025, the Emergency Fund helped 18 dogs and 8 cats. Animal-Kind International support to HaH's Lifetime Care Program helped 348 dogs and 16 cats, providing them with boosters, parasite treatment, and food.
These are a few of the Emergency Fund cases from July onward, faciliated by HaH, paid for by AKI, thanks to your GlobalGiving donations.

Moonlight lives with her family in Keetmans. When Dr Baines stopped in Keetmans for two days of spaying, Moonlight's family rushed her to the spay clinic because they were worried about a growth on her forehead (photo above). Moonlight was given the go ahead for spay surgery, vaccination, and tumor removal--all at the same time. The Emergency Fund covered tumor removal and vaccinations.

Queen was spayed in 2022 when the mobile clinic came to Rehoboth. Her owners care about her very much and when they realized she wasn't feeling well, they took her to Aanwo Vet Clinic in Rehoboth. Queen's whole family was very worried and they made sure she wouldn't have to walk all the way to the clinic and back home so they transported her in their horse cart (see photo).
Luckily, Aanwo Vet Clinic is one of the clinics that administers the HaH Lifetime Care Program, and knew about the AKI-HaH Emergency Fund. Dr Rakel has helped many cats and dogs thanks to the Fund, and knew she'd be able to help the previously spayed Queen.
Queen was diagnosed with tick bite fever and Dr Rakel began treatment immediately. Queen fully recovered and her family now knows to go to Aanwo Vet Clinic for parasite treatment -- provided thanks to the Lifetime Care Program.

Jacky's family became very worried when he developed growths on his stomach. They didn't know what to do and they knew they couldn't afford surgery. But they couldn't just do nothing, so they went to the clinic in Rehoboth and asked if they could get help. Dr Rakel checked with us and of course we agreed to help poor Jacky. His care became more complicated when he wouldn't leave the incisions alone and he had to return to the clinic. After 2 days at the clinic, where the staff made sure he left the stitches alone, he was better and went home neutered.

Eddie lived on the street and was obviously unwell. A kind person saw him and took him to Farmhouse Vet Clinic, where Dr Chanel has previously worked with the AKI-HaH Emergency Fund and knew she could help little Eddie.
Eddie was very sick, thin, dehydrated, had tons of fleas, crusted eyes, and sniffles (see photo). At the clinic, Eddie was given fluids, antibiotics, tick and flea treatment, and lots of love. When Ronja and Tanja from Triglav Trust (an AKI 2025 grant recipient) heard about Eddie they went to visit him with some extra food and a toy to cuddle.
Eddie was a very lucky cat; while still at the clinic he managed to find a home! As soon as he was strong enough he was adopted and when healthy enough, he was neutered.

Leo is from Mariental and was neutered in June but in August, he escaped from his yard and while wandering found some bones to chew. When he got home, Leo was sick, throwing up, weak, wouldn't eat. His family rushed him to Dr Erna. It turned out his bowel was completely blocked with bones!
Dr Erna put him on a drip for two days and he was given a pressure enema--poor Leo! Dr Erna said his bowel contents felt like concrete! After all that, Leo was lucky, no surgery needed!

Buksi from Rehoboth got in a dog fight and his eye was injured. His owners were in a panic and rushed himm to Aanwo Vet Clinic. Buksi was in so much pain, he was immediately sedated. Dr Rakel had to remove the eye.
This was only possible--relieving Buksi of the parin-- because of the AKI-HaH Emergency Fund. We are grateful to you for being able to help Buksi and all the other cats and dogs (a couple of horses and donkeys too) past and future!
