AKI's Karibib Feral Cat Spayathon
AKI's Karibib Feral Cat Spayathon

Dear AKI & Have A Heart Supporters,

When I received a message from Geesche with HAH-Luderitz that said,

"We have a feral cat group in Karibib (small town between Swakop and Windhoek) and 1 of the volunteers asked Have a Heart for help. If it's ok with you, I will use some of the AKI money and plan an AKI feral cat spay day. What do you think?"

Thanks to our GlobalGiving donors, I was able to say, "YES, we'd be happy to support humane population control of a feral cat colony!"

Geesche sent me more information:

"According to the lady in Karibib, the feral cats live in a commercial yard (RR Importers), are fed and taken care of, but they don't want them to keep reproducing."

In the end, one other donor from Namibia came forward, and HAH (with Dr. Maya doing the surgeries) was able to sterilize all 16 feral cats (see poster).

2015 was certainly a good year for HAH, and so much of the success can be attributed to AKI's GlobalGiving Donors. During 2015, in Luderitz, HAH sterilized 76 dogs and cats; in Aus, 139 dogs and cats for a total of 215. 2015 was the 1st year that HAH worked in Aus. In 2014, HAH sterilized a total of 110 animals in Luderitz. Of the 2015 total (Luderritz & Aus), about 80 of those dogs and cats were s/n'd thanks to AKI donors!  Check out the poster attached for more statistics on HAH-Namibia's spayathons.

And lastly (and finally!), AKI has been accepted as a permanent member of GlobalGiving! We are looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership.

Thank you so much for your generous and ongoing support! We are so grateful for your help.
