Dear Supporters,
What is the Camillian Center
Camillian is a social center for children with disabilities and GVI Phang Nga has worked with them for the past 3 years. It is one of few organisations that were founded after the tsunami that still remains open today. Camillian provides services to children with disabilities throughout the community at no cost. The center receives very little government funding and relies heavily on donations.
With this newfound partnership, GVI Phang Nga hopes to host many challenges and continue to raise funds for Camillian.
The children who attend the center receive food, clean clothing, and transportation on a daily basis. Weekly, children receive physical and occupational therapy and home visits for family counselling. GVI volunteers aid psychological and social development through dance, music, arts and crafts, as well as English and healthcare lessons four days per week.
What we have done in the last 3 months
On the 19th of August, volunteers, staff, and even some of the children dressed up and ran 5k around the village of Ban Nam Khem. In total 17,120 baht ($480) was donated to Camillian. The money was used to provide meals, snacks, and drinks for the 12 children for an entire month. It was greatly received and appreciated by the staff and children of the center!
By assisting the Camillian Center in this way we free up valuable time for them to focus on other tasks crucial to the successful running of the center.
Our fundraising for Camillian is an ongoing process and we hope to be able to offer more regular assistance in the near future.
Thank you for your support. We look forward to watching this project grow with you!
With Gratitude,
GVI Thailand
