Project Report | Jan 29, 2024
Through the lows, encountering warm currents

By Cheer | Children are us Foundation

The Hsinchu County Disability Service Center serves individuals who are registered or currently residing in Hsinchu County, aged 7-64, and hold a disability certification. These individuals are assessed as challenging cases requiring care, from families with high caregiver burdens, in need of career transition, or requiring general support services.

Ning(To protect the privacy of the service user, a pseudonym is used in this presentation.), an individual who immigrated from Indonesia to Taiwan over 20 years ago and has gone through three marriages, lies powerlessly in bed. Due to the struggles of life and failed marriages, Ning has developed severe depression. Despite proactive job referrals from social workers, she remains unable to find the motivation to change her life. The social worker initiates a suicide report and connects Ning with resources for the homeless, providing at-home services and psychological counseling in an attempt to help Ning regain her enthusiasm for life.

The Hsinchu County Disability Service Center has established a comprehensive support and career transition service for individuals with disabilities, integrating local social welfare resources and community networks. This enables Ning to receive the necessary support and assistance, ensuring proper nutrition and stable medical care. The center assists Ning in bringing her life back on track. Additionally, she reconnects with her adult children, who, after communication, are willing to assist their mother in her daily life.

Sitting by the bedside, Ning, with tears in her eyes, feels the maturity of her children and expresses gratitude for the long-lost family bonds. She thanks various supportive organizations for their encouragement. These warm currents slowly fill the emotional void in Ning's heart, and the story is still unfolding.

This progress report is shared with donors to illustrate the positive impact of their contributions in transforming and uplifting lives.
